Which photo is suitable?

The success of the result depends on the quality of the submitted photo. Below you can see which photos are suitable and which are not.

Overview of suitable and unsuitable portrait photos for a 3D bust

✅ Recommended: frontal portrait photo from chest or stomach level

  • Face fully visible and straight from the front
  • Good lighting, no backlight or harsh shadows
  • Highest possible resolution – the sharper, the more detail
  • A neutral background is preferred
  • Do you wear glasses? Thin frames can cause problems — please mention this in the comments.

The final size depends in part on the aspect ratio of your portrait photo — a close-up initially results in a larger image. We can adjust the dimensions to your liking. All sizes include the base.

Without a plinth, a larger image is possible within the maximum print volume of 25 × 25 × 25 cm.

⚠️ Disclaimer – please read this

The submitted photo is processed by an AI system (MakerWorld – Make My Statue). The result is a likeness that is as close as possible — but we cannot guarantee that the bust will look exactly like the person depicted.

  • Eyes are very decisive for recognizability. Due to the monochrome version, eyes may differ from the photo.
  • White and marble (both mats) provide less detail. High-gloss copper / bronze provides the most detail.
  • Ratios we can adjust, but changes to the face itself are not possible.
  • Glasses Thin frames can cause problems. We can print the glasses separately if necessary so that you can attach them yourself (to prevent damage during transport).
  • Regenerate: If approval is granted after a longer period, the model may no longer be available. Upon reprocessing, the new result may differ slightly from the original sample.

Everything about the personal bust

Which photo is most suitable?
A frontal portrait photo where the face is fully visible, taken from chest or stomach level. Good lighting and high resolution are important. Additional photos from the side can significantly improve the result — please send these along via email or mention this in the comments.
Can I submit a photo of someone else?
Yes, that is perfectly fine — provided you have the permission of the person depicted, or it is a surprise. Busts are popular gifts for retirement, graduation, and anniversaries.
How well does the bust resemble the person?
The AI system produces the best possible likeness, but we cannot give any guarantees. Eyes are a major factor — due to the monochrome finish, they may differ from the photo. Copper / bronze provides the most detail. You always review a preview before paying.
Which color and finish gives the best result?
High-gloss copper / bronze (silk PLA) provides the most detail and is therefore the best choice for a recognizable result. Matte white or marble It looks classic but shows less detail, particularly in the eyes. Gold and silver fall somewhere in between.
Can I have text placed on the pedestal?
Yes! A name, date, or short text is possible on the base, on a maximum of 2 lines of 18 characters each. This makes practical sense starting from the larger versions (150% or larger, approx. 195 mm high). A second line requires a taller base, making the statue slightly smaller.
How and when will I receive the preview?
We will send you a screenshot of the generated 3D model via email as soon as possible. You give your approval — or not. Only after your approval do you place the order via the webshop. You are not bound to anything by your agreement.
What if I don't find the preview good enough?
We will then consult with you. Sometimes a different photo or color choice helps. We always look for a solution. Please note that if approval takes place after a longer period, the model will need to be regenerated — the result may then differ slightly.
How long does it take after my agreement?
After your approval and order, the delivery time is usually within 3 working days, depending on the availability of the chosen material and color. We will keep you informed.
I wear glasses — is that a problem?
Thin spectacle frames can cause problems when generating the model. If this is the case, we can print the glasses separately so that you can attach them yourself, to prevent damage during transport. Please mention in the comments that you wear glasses.
Is my photo safe with you?
Absolutely. Your photo is used exclusively to generate the 3D model. We never share your data or photo with third parties. After processing, the files are deleted from our server. See also our privacy statement.
